More Information

Greetings! Welcome to the Department of Physical Therapy at Wheeling Jesuit University (WJU). We are excited to share with you our exceptional curriculum, faculty, and facilities. We are confident in our curriculum which utilizes the well researched theories of adult learning. The Problem-Based Learning curriculum model has been successfully used in many professional education programs including medicine, law, and business. In 1996, WJU became the first accredited problem based physical therapy curriculum in the USA. Today the program accepts an average of 50 students per class a year.

Wheeling Jesuit University physical therapy graduates are prepared to deliver physical therapy services to diverse populations throughout the continuum of prevention, wellness and rehabilitation. They are generalists who are able to practice in a variety of settings, including those areas underserved by the health care system. The Wheeling Jesuit University physical therapy graduates demonstrate skills in problem-solving and life-long learning which prepare them for leadership within the health-care system.

The Department of Physical Therapy embraces the Wheeling Jesuit tradition of education excellence in the preparation of entry-level physical therapists for service to others, the betterment of society, and ethical leadership.

The physical therapy program at Wheeling Jesuit University is accreditede by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), 1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314; telephone: 703-706-3245; email: accreditation@apta.org; website: http://www.capteonline.org.
